On October 22-24, 2018, Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit hosted by Qualcomm was held in Hong Kong. The summit focused on the Internet of Everything (IoT) in the 5G era. Many big names from famous operators at home and abroad such as Samsung, Ericsson, Honeywell, Microsoft, Amazon, Sprint, Verizon, Orange, BT, KPN, KTC, and China Telecom shared their deployments and progress in the field of 5G. As an important partner in Qualcomm’s IoT, GosuncnWelink Technology Co., Ltd. (“GosuncnWelink”) was invited to attend the summit and exhibited its series cellular modules and IoV terminal products based on Qualcomm’s chip platform.

At the summit, Qualcomm announced a number of important developments in the field of 5G: cooperated with Ericsson to complete the first 5G NR 6 GHz OTA call in compliance with 3G PP specifications, launched the “smallest” product under 5G NR millimeter wave antenna module series and cooperated with Samsung to build the industry’s leading 5G NR small base station infrastructure. Cristiano Amon, president of Qualcomm Incorporated, said that Qualcomm has been exploring ways to renew the mobile experience, and this milestone innovation will further strengthened Qualcomm’s leading position in the 5G commercial road in early 2019.

5G technology is characterized by wide bandwidth, low latency, wide connection, etc., which will bring a revolutionary change to various industries such as industrial manufacturing, energy, and smart municipality. From “everyone connection” to “figure connection”, machines will be connected with each other in the 5G era, truly realizing the Internet of Things. The advanced applications of AI, VR/AR, and automatic driving will be achieved widely due to low latency and extremely fast data transfer rate from 5G. As an important part of IoT, IoV will also rely on 5G/C-V2X (Vehicle to Everything) technology to give vehicles more powerful communication capabilities, making transportation more efficient, wider, safer and more reliable.

As a leader in IoV, Geely is confident in the upcoming 5G era. Shen Ziyu, vice president of Geely Automobile Research Institute, attended the summit and brought wonderful sharing. He said, “Every Geely car is equipped with a 4G module and Qualcomm chips, and it will turn to 5G in the future. We hope that Geely’s 5G users will reach 10 million in 2021. According to statistics, many people spend one hour in the car every day, so the car needs a better connection. Nowadays, a car can provide music, navigation, and car assistant services.” Besides the car entertainment system, 5G will also be an important technical guarantee for automatic driving. Today, GosuncnWelinkhas concluded in-depth cooperation with Geely, and its front-mounted vehicle products have been put into use in large quantities for more than 2 years. Its shipment takes the leading position in the industry. In the future, both parties will reach more in-depth cooperation in wider fields.

GosuncnWelink has been always attaching great importance to its cooperation with Qualcomm. From CDMA 1X to 3G and 4G eras, GosuncnWelink cellular modules are based on Qualcomm chips and platforms. Previously, both parties jointly launched the first industrial LTE seven-module SMT module ME3630 using Qualcomm MDM9X07 platform and LTE Cat. One module ME3610 based on Qualcomm platform. They firstly released Cat.M+NB-IoT+GSM modules based on Qualcomm MDM9206 platform, which further expanded and consolidated the position of GosuncnWelink in the electric power and PoC markets. The development of IoT is inseparable from the cooperation between the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. While developing, GosuncnWelink attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with upstream and downstream enterprises such as Qualcomm to create an IoT ecosystem and promote rapid industrial development.
